Former Jagwire executive launches new brand, Ciclovation, in the US

TAICHUNG, Taiwan (BRAIN) — Jerry Huang, who retired from Jagwire after 25 years with the cable-housing manufacturer, has launched his own line of products under the Ciclovation brand.

Six U.S. distributors will offer the line — Hawley USA, Hans Johnsen, KHS Bicycles, Wilson Bicycle Sales, Downeast Bicycle Specialists and Olympic Supply. Huang said his line of cables, housing, brake pads, handlebar tape and other items are strictly for IBDs.

"The Ciclovation product line is set to focus on service parts and categories for IBDs, so IBDs are our primary partners. We also plan to work with our distribution partners to offer the best service possible to IBDs," said Huang in an email.

The company is also searching for a U.S. partner to handle just-in-time customer service, tech support and marketing to support its distribution network. "My goal is to provide the best quality and performance with the best value to IBDs," he added, noting that all Ciclovation products will carry margins of 50 percent or more.

Joining Huang at Smart Cycling, the company's name, is Ketty Kuan, director of sales, and Erika Wu, director of operations. Both have extensive experience in the industry and had worked with Huang at Jagwire.

Ciclovation products will be manufactured by a variety of contractors with expertise in the various categories. Huang said the company will at focus on the U.S., Taiwan and Chinese markets as the first step in its growth. "We will gradually move toward the European market in the next couple of years," he said.
